Sihh 2012 Lange Dual Complication Timepiece

LANGE 1’s eccentric dial design perfectly matches the perpetual calendar function. The calendar display is set outside the hour and minute circles to ensure legible reading. The calendar display on the dial of the LANGE 1 TOURBILLON PERPETUAL CALENDAR is harmonious and well-balanced, and the complex functions are properly laid out. The engraving at 12 o’clock indicates that the watch tourbillon is equipped with a patented stop-second device. Just looking at the well-proportioned dial layout, it is impossible to know the complex technology in the development of this masterpiece of watch and the intent of the watchmaking process. As the tenth member of the famous Lange watch series, it perfectly reflects the essence of the new mechanical design.
To enable the dial of the LANGE 1 to accommodate the calendar display, the designer of the Lange movement invented the first rotating perpetual calendar month display ring in the history of the watch. There are notches with different depths below the display ring, corresponding to the number of days in each month, and equipped with innovative sampling devices. And this unique design is patented.

All display functions of the perpetual calendar-large calendar, retrograde week display, month display ring, leap year window, moon phase display-can be switched in real time, and accurate time readings are displayed at all times. Due to the special operation of this mechanism, the watch did not have to be adjusted for one day until March 1, 2100; the moon phase display can even operate accurately for 122 years before a day of error. Just press the button to easily adjust the time, and let the calendar display operate separately or simultaneously.

Ensuring that the dial is clear at a glance is one of the key points in the design of the LANGE 1 TOURBILLON PERPETUAL CALENDAR. This decision comes at a price: there is no tourbillon window on the surface. However, through the sapphire crystal case back, you can see the delicate and complex mechanical structure. The carved tourbillon frame rotates around the axis once a minute to offset the effect of gravity on the balance wheel and its eccentric weight. Combined with Lange’s unique balance spring, the timing is extremely accurate. By perfectly matching the two components with 21,600 movements per hour, the precision of the timepiece is further improved. Just pull out the crown, the patented stop-second device can immediately stop the balance wheel in the tourbillon frame, so the watch time setting can be calibrated to seconds.
The newly developed L082.1 automatic movement is equipped with a 21K gold central automatic disk. The middle part is embossed with Lange signature and can be wound up quickly. The centrifugal balance wheel of the automatic disk is made of platinum, with a density even higher than gold, which can inject additional kinetic energy into the winding process. Therefore, even slight wrist movements can be converted into winding energy, and a power reserve of up to 50 hours can be stored between hands and feet.
The movement embodies the unique and superior quality of Lange everywhere, such as carefully carved movement parts, hand-carved tourbillons, intermediate wheel plywood, and four gold sleeves fixed to the plate with blue steel. The decoration of the upper part of the tourbillon frame is undoubtedly a masterpiece of slow work. The decorative technique, called black polishing, takes five days before it can be applied to intricate frame parts. The flawless diamond end stone, in addition to being used as a bearing for the tourbillon, also completes the finishing touch for Lange’s watchmaking process, echoing Lange’s high-end bone pocket watches of the ‘1A’ category.
This model is by far the most complex member of the LANGE 1 series. It is available in a rose gold or platinum case with a diameter of 41.9 mm. The limited edition of platinum is limited to 100 pieces, demonstrating the noble status of this extraordinary timepiece.
